An elderly woman, believed to be in her early 60’s, has been injured after being knocked by a BMW on Katherine Street in Sandton.
It appears that the woman was attempting to cross the road, just before the BMW came past near the intersection with Pretoria Street. The woman crashed over the bonnet of the car, onto the front windscreen and then right up and over the car, causing the roof to be dented and the back windshield to break.
The woman was immediately assessed by paramedics who arrived on the scene and was found to have sustained multiple deep cuts and bruises. She had been very lucky to not have sustained any other visibly life threatening injuries. She was treated accordingly on scene before being taken to Helen Joseph Hospital where they could perform further necessary assessments in order to determine if the woman had sustained possible internal injuries. Due to the way that the woman had been hit paramedics were surprised that she was still alert and was able to tell them exactly what had happened.
The man who was driving the BMW at the time of the incident was fortunately not injured.
