Crisis Medical paramedics responded to a truck accident on the N2 South bound past Umhlanga off ramp at 11:40 today.
First on scene, paramedics found a large horse and trailer that had jack-knifed coming to rest in the left lane of the busy freeway. Emergency personnel climbed into the cab and found a passenger who had sustained back injures. The injured patient was carefully stabilised and loaded onto a spinal board before being transported to hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the truck lost control after trying to avoid a stationery truck on the freeway. Due to evasive measures being taken, the cargo on the truck shifted causing the the vehicle to jack-knife.
Traffic is affected currently due to the recovery of the cargo and truck.
