A truck collided into the back of another while travelling on the N3 south bound carriage way near the Cedara off ramp. Calls came in with reports that serious injuries were to be expected and that the truck driver of the one vehicle was possibly trapped.
When they arrived on scene, paramedics saw that the truck was extensively damaged and the cabin crushed and ripped apart. The contents of both trucks was strewn across the road and they immediately started assessing the scene.
Not only did they have to be aware of other traffic on the busy highway, they had to be aware of looters that were flocking to the scene to remove whatever of the meat products which were the contents of the truck that they could.
Despite the damage to the truck, the driver who was travelling alone, suffered only minor injuries. He was treated on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further care. No one else was injured as a result of the collision.
