One man is in a critical condition after a taxi collided with three light motor vehicles on Durban’s busy North Coast Road this evening.
Crisis Medical paramedics arrived on the scene of the collision near to the Queen Nandi Drive intersection to find a mini bus taxi had collided with three other light motor vehicles. The driver of the taxi sustained critical injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist with his breathing.
He was placed onto a specialized stretcher before being transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the critical care he required.
Seven others sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision and we’re all treated on scene before being taken through to various receiving hospitals nearby.
Traffic was severely affected as most of the road way was occupied by the scene as emergency workers attended to the injured.
The exact facts surrounding the incident are unclear however the necessary authorities were on scene and will investigate further.
