ER24 paramedics attended to several collisions in KwaZulu-Natal last night and in the early hours of this morning.
Sadly, a man died following a collision at Prince Alfred and Commercial streets in Pietermaritzburg. ER24 paramedics as well as other services attended to the incident and found two vehicles in the middle of the intersection.
Upon assessment of the patients, it was found that the driver of one of the vehicles was trapped. He was removed from the vehicle. Despite all efforts to save him, the man sadly died. The passenger in this vehicle was in a critical condition. He was treated and transported to hospital. A female in the second vehicle was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. She was also taken to hospital. All patients are believed to be in their 20’s. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
Another incident involved a head on collision between a bakkie and car on Starling Road in Eastwood, Pietermaritzburg.
Paramedics attended to the incident and found that a male and female were trapped in the car. They were removed from the vehicle and upon assessment it was found that the woman sustained serious injuries and the man sustained minor injuries. Two patients from the bakkie were also assessed and found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Patients were treated and transported to local hospitals for further care.
Another incident occurred on Chapel and Longmarket streets, in Pietemaritzburg. A man lost control of his vehicle, hit another vehicle and crashed into a shop window. He was found seated in the vehicle that was resting against the building. He was treated for minor injuries and transported to hospital.
Two people also injured in a vehicle rollover on the R33 near Copesville. The vehicle was found in slow lane of the north bound carriage way of the R33. The patients, two men, were treated for minor injuries and transported to hospital for further care.
