Northern Cape: On 24 March 2017 at about 02:00 Hopetown police followed up information about theft of copper cable in Steynville, Hopetown.
Copper cable weighing 140 kg was recovered in the veld. Further information led to a recovery of 40 kg of copper wire that was also found burnt (clean) with an estimated street value of R11 000.
A 44-year- old man was arrested at 09:00 am for the possession of the 40 kg we f copper wire. The suspect will be appearing in the Hopetown Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen copper.
The investigation continues.
