On Mothers’ day I would like to pay tribute to the loving and caring moms in our lives! These ladies have a special place in our hearts and their contributions are often only cherished years after they have made their impact on our lives!
I decided to use the title of one of my favourite movies in the title to this blog post. The storyline features a waitress and caring mom, played by Helen Hunt, and the rather obscure people around her. It tells the story of an obsessive-compulsive, misanthropic, and bigoted romantic novelist named Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson), and how his personality softens and changes as his relationship towards the caring waitress develops.
Few people might be aware of the special relationship between the Arrive Alive website and a day like Mothers’ day. On the 3rd of December 1972 I lost my mother in a car accident. I was 2 years and 10 months old at the time and was in the vehicle with my mom, dad and brother when she lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst and the vehicle rolled from the gravel next to the road.
I will always remember how my dad told me what an amazing woman she was. I was blessed to have found an exceptional new mom when my dad remarried 3 years later – a person who loves us and cares for me and my brother as if we are her own children.
In 2002 I was inspired by Jack Church, the American owner of the ArriveAlive.com website. He decided to develop this domain for road safety after his son passed away in a car accident. It was at this point in time that I decided to honour the memory of my mom by developing the Arrive Alive road safety website.
Was it not for this memory and also the way that I was blessed with love and care from my new mom, I might never have been in a positions where I could have made this commitment to road safety.
May we appreciate those amazing women:
– Who drive the children around
– Who demand that we wear our seatbelts and child restraints

Who love us!!
