The National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) recorded a month-on-month drop of 30.14% in vehicle introductions in April 2009 (33 035 vehicle introductions compared to 47 285 in March 2009), providing further evidence of the acute decrease in vehicle sales reported by industry analysts and widely reported on in the media.

A year-on-year comparison paints an even bleaker picture, with 53.76% fewer vehicles being introduced in April this year compared to April 2008 (71 437 vehicle introductions).

A more detailed report is available at eNaTIS.

The latest statistics regarding South Africa’s live vehicle population and new & used vehicle registrations are also available on the eNaTIS public information site (www.enatis.com), as are a wide range of downloadable forms, service centre contact information and how-to guides.
