Jason from Idols experiences trauma, defeat and victory!

This blog post is not about the merits of who the best singer in South Africa might be! The author of this blog has a limited [if not non- existent] musical ability, and should keep to singing in the shower or in church!

This post is, strange as it may seem, related to road safety! Exactly one month ago, on the 8th of March, the Arrive Alive road safety website featured a story titled “Idols finalist loses brother in car accident”.

Jason Hartman experienced trauma when his stepbrother, Joshua Landberg, 25, crashed his car into a stationary trailer near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza on the N3 highway while returning to his Howick home from Durban. At the time Jason said his brother’s “untimely death” had knocked all the stress out of the competition for him. He remarked that “Everything has been put in perspective for me. A tragedy like this really shocks you into reality and makes clear what’s truly important in life.

Last Sunday evening Jason experienced defeat when it was announced that Sasha –Lee is the winner of Idols 2009.

It was however revealed earlier today that there was a system error in the capturing of votes and Jason in fact received the most votes. It was decided that both Jason and Sash-Lee will be declared winners!

In an interview Jason remarked: “”It’s absolutely fair that we’re both Idols. I didn’t want to take anything away from Sasha Lee”.

The Arrive Alive website would like to congratulate Jason on receiving the most votes in Idols 2009. We believe that his response is a that of someone who is mature and worthy of being an idol! We believe that his approach to trauma, defeat and victory will enable him to enjoy much success in his career and to touch the lives of ordinary South Africans!
