This afternoon paramedics from Pietermaritzburg Netcare 911 rushed to the scene of a horrific accident on the N3 at Hidcote near Escort. On their arrival paramedics found that a silver Nissan vehicle travelling from Durban to Escort lost control, went across the centre island and then rolled down an embankment ejecting some of the passengers.
On closer investigation the paramedics found a mother and a 2 year old boy that died due to the severe injuries they sustained. An elderly man and woman as well as a 9 year old boy also sustained serious injuries and after paramedics stabilised them, they were transported to a hospital in Pietermaritzburg for further treatment.
