Paramedics use special rescue system when school girl falls into canal

Last night at around midnight Netcare 911 rusged to the cuttings beach in Merebank for a child that had fallen from a concrete wall into the canal from a height of about 6 meters . It appeared that the children from a hostel was taken to the beach and while they were playing this tragic accident happened.

The 13 year old sustained serious injuries and after stabilising her the Netcare rescue unit had to use a special rescue system to hoist the patient and paramedic back to the road level. A ambulance was waiting and tranported the patient to the Netcare St Augustine’s hospital for further treatment.
