The Arrive Alive website is a forum for public participation, suggestions, criticism etc. It provides important insight with regards to public perception on how road safety should be enhanced in South Africa.

I would like to quote some thoughts received from a visitor about the need for more attention to rail transport for citizens in Limpopo:

“Subject: Road Transport& Rail Transport in South Africa

Message: The congestion on SA roads is due to the overlooking of the rail passenger transport. One train can carry 1000 passengers but 1000 passengers could be carried by 72 taxis. Look at the risk by notorious taxi drivers. The rail link between Polokwane & Nelspruit has no passengers services.

Are passengers forced to use one mode of transport? How many accidents per day? We need rail services just like those in Metropolitan cities & other mainlines. Trains are safer, reliable, job creating on eco-tourism & the better way to see South Africa.

Please Dept of Transport –Do consult citizens of this country! It is long I suggested this B!

….Fuel emission from cars has effect on climate change. Consider rail in our region in Limpopo”

Road Safety requires attention not only to driver behaviour from motorists – but also attention to other modes of transport.
