Earlier this afternoon Netcare 911 was called out to an accident on the N3 North under the Camperdown bridge. When paramedics arrived, there were patients laying everywhere. The taxi left the road, went up a 45 degree embankment under the bridge and then rolled several times down to the road.
A total of 15 passengers sustained injuries – 1 critical, 8 serious and a further 6 sustained only minor injuries. Paramedics were kept busy stabilizing all the injured and they were then transported to various hospitals in the Pietermaritzburg area for further treatment.
This was a sad scene to witness as not only were these people injured and hurt but they were on their way from Durban to Ixopo with all their groceries and these were lying all around them on the road.
