A visitor to the Arrive Alive website sent an email with shocking images of people raiding an accident scene!
How shocking is this? There were crushed cars at the accident scene on 14th Avenue and people merely went ahead raiding the truck of its contents!
Eighteen light vehicles and two trucks were involved in a pile-up on 14th Avenue on the N1 north in Roodepoort. Bystanders and motorists helped themselves to the spoils after a truck carrying cooking oil overturned, losing its load.
This conduct is not only a disgrace – but also an additional threat to the safety of others at the accident scene!
We need to be aware that even though these goods are scattered on the road surface, there is no intention of the owner to let go of ownership and any such appropriation of these goods will constitute the crime of theft!!
