We Focus on Spectator Safety

As we witness an increased focus on South Africa as sporting destination, we also find more questions raised about the safety of visitors and especially sports spectators. The recent IPLT20 cricket tournament has strengthened the belief and confidence that South Africa does not only offer good weather and sports facilities, but also safety for our participants and spectators!

We will now be heading into the British and Irish Lions rugby tour, then a Confederations Cup Football tournament, and then next year the biggest of them all – the 2010 FIFA World Cup!

The development team of the Arrive Alive Road Safety website has decided that it is important to assist where possible with safety information for our spectators when they go on the road and travel thousands of kilometres between sports stadiums.

This has been included in a section on the website titled Spectator Survival Guide on the Road to Sports Stadiums. We have also shared this information with several of the sports governing bodies – and are please to see that the official South African rugby website at www.sarugby.co.za has decided to share this info with rugby spectators from the “Fanzone” section of the website.

We will continue to provide more information to our local and foreign visitors. It is our wish that they will enjoy safe travels across South Africa!
