This morning at around 05h40 Netcare 911 rushed to the scene of a horrific accident in the Pietermaritzburg area. When they arrived they found that a cash- in- transit vehicle had gone through an intersection and collided with a Corsa bakkie.

The bakkie was pushed for more than 100 meters into a brick wall. The 37 year old lady driver, who just dropped off her husband, a fireman in Pietermaritzburg fire department, was critically injured.

Paramedics worked frantically to stabilise her and then transported the critically injured patient to the Netcare St Anne’s hospital for further treatment. Sadly, shortly after her arrival she died due to the severity of her injuries.
