We often do not give credit where credit is due – and I would like to give credit on a speedy response received from Eastern Cape Provincial traffic authorities!
At 9h22 this morning the Arrive Alive website received an email requesting assistance on hazardous road conditions on the R61.
We forwarded this email to our contacts in the Eastern Cape and received a response via email by 9h54!
The response includes a referral to colleagues to follow up on this complaint and reads:
“Ms Bomela – I received an email from Arrive Alive web site admin manager Mr Jonck about stray animals on R61 between Queenstown and Cofimvaba.
The complainant is a Mr Malmani (cell no ……….) who is a councillor at Lukhanji and request you contact him to discuss the matter.
But, what’s more important is the actual concern of stray animals and ask that you liaise with the District Manager Mr Lategan and his managers to remedy this as it is not acceptable.
Kindly let me have a status report by 22/6/2009.

Animals on the road pose a significant risk to road users – a risk that could be prevented if there is effective fencing. This is however a topic for a separate blog post.
With this post I would like to give credit to the quick response received. If road users are aware that their complaints are given attention they will participate and interact with authorities and we will all benefit from effective service delivery! Well done to these individuals who are doing their utmost to provide good service delivery!
