Shortly after 18H30 Netcare 911 and RTI were called to serious accident on the N2 south bound at the Tongaat Toll Plaza. Paramedics were met with carnage and destruction. A 14 wheeler truck was travelling south from Ballito to Tongaat. The truck apparently failed to reduce his speed and collided into at least 6 motor vehicles at the Tongaat Toll plaza.
A white Nissan sentra waiting to proceed thought the toll plaza, took the main impact of the truck resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle entrapping the rear passengers. Paramedics worked frantically to extricate the 4 injured passengers, with serious injuries, they were all treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Paramedics urged motorist to reduce their speed and obey the rules of the road!
