3 Cars collide on the R61

snipimage32 Netcare 911 and the protection services rushed to the scene of a three car pile up on the R61 on the Msinyati bridge on the way to Port Edward. It is uncertain as to what caused the accident, however 3 people were left injured.

A female driver from one of the cars was trapped in the vehicle and in a critical condition. Paramedics and firemen used the jaws of life to free her from the wreckage. One other person was seriously injured while another person sustained minor injuries. All these patients were transported to the Netcare Margate hospital for further treatment.

While Paramedics were working at the scene they noticed a commotion at one of the vehicles that was parked in the traffic jam. They ran over and found that a child about 4 years old was choking on a plastic toy. The father was doing the Heimlich manoeuvre on the child and managed to dislodge the toy.

Paramedics checked the child over and fortunately it was a very scary but happy ending for the parents.
