This morning Netcare 911 rushed to the scene of an accident in the Kwadukuza area. On arrival at the N2 North at the Salt Rock turn – off they were faced with a 60 ton truck carrying milk that overturned into a trench, trapping 4 people. Fireman and paramedics used the jaws of life and a crane to free the patients from the wreckage. Paramedics battled from around 06h00 and only freed them just after 08h00 .
One of the patients sustained critical injuries and the Netcare helicopter was called in to airlift the patient to the Netcare Umhlanga hospital for further treatment. The 3 other patients all sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Netcare Alberlito Hospital for treatment.
