Motorist in fatal accident with sand truck near Leisure Bay

At approximately 7h50 this morning, a large sand truck travelling towards Port Edward on the R61 near Leasure Bay, lost control and collided with a Toyota SUV.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to Port shepstone Provincial hospital by EMRS.

 The driver of the Toyota though sustained critical injuries, was extricated from the vehicle by Hibiscus Fire and Rescue services using the yaws of life ,and then transported by ambulance; but tragically died while on the way to hospital.
