Paramedics attend to holliday drownings on South Coast

On the 2nd of July at approximately 10h00 Netcare 911 Margate responded to Glenmore Beach for a drowning. On arrival paramedics found a 44 year old JHB resident who, while fishing off the rocks, was washed into the sea . The boy then tried to save his father  but also got into trouble  and the Ubuntu lifeguards managed to pull both of them  out of the water. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the father but sadly he died. The 16 year old boy was treated on scene and then taken to the Netcare Margate for further treatment

that was washed off the rocks trying to save his son. Ubuntu life guards initiated cpr on the beach and handed care of the patient over to the paramedics. Due to the time period that the patient endured in the water all resuscitation attempts failed and the patient was declared dead at the scene.

On the same day at approximately 13h00 Netcare 911 Margate responded to Caribbean Estates outside Port Edward for yet another drowning. On arrival paramedics found an 22 year old DBN resident who’s body was pulled from the sea by crew members from the Port Edward Nsri Base after the patient went swimming and got into trouble. Due to the time period the patient endured in the water all resuscitation attempts failed and the patient was declared dead at the scene.
