This afternoon at around 13h30 Netcare 911 rushed to the scene of an accident on the N3 Durban bound near the Duncan McKenzie turn- off just outside Pietermaritzburg. When paramedics arrived on scene they found that two heavy goods trucks had collided, leaving the driver and passenger of the back truck with serious injuries and the roadway totally blocked off. After paramedics stabilised them on scene they were transported to a hospital in Pietermaritzburg for further treatment.
While paramedics were attending to the patients a car came down the hill, swerved to avoid the accident and collided with the embankment. The 4 occupants in the car were all injured, 3 with minor injuries and one with serious injuries. They were all transported to the Netcare St Annes hospital for further treatment..
