Driving like animals on route to the Masai Mara

Some people say that you can take a person out of the bush, but you can’t take the bush out of some people. In the wild we can often avoid our strict rules and civilized practices – but when sharing a road – we need to abide by the Rules of the Road and respect the need for safety for other road users as well!

A good friend of mine and nature photographer, Hilton Kotze, is on his way to the Masai Mara in Kenya to capture the migration of animals. This is a unique experience and something to be shared with all nature lovers. To quote from Wikipedia:

“The Masai Mara (also spelled Maasai Mara) is a large park reserve in south-western Kenya, which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park game reserve in Tanzania. Named for the Maasai people (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River, which divides it, it is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle and the wildebeest from the Serengeti every year from July to October, a migration so immense it is called the Great Migration.”

Hilton took the above photo of dangerous overtaking on route to the Masai Mara. We would like to urge all road users to respect the safety of others!

Always keep in mind –unsafe overtaking might get you faster to the undertakers! Visit the Arrive Alive website for more info on “Safe Overtaking and Road Safety”.
