A 15 month old child died and 3 other people were injured in an accident on the N2 South near Umkomaas just past midnight on Saturday night, after there bakkie that they were travelling in rolled several times and landed in the centre medium. The driver allegedly swerved to avoid colliding with a truck and hit the barriers before overturning .
Paramedics from Netcare 911 and sap members from the Umkomaas area were horrified when they arrived on scene and found that a 15 month old baby had died in this horrific accident. Mother and father and another family member sustained serious injuries, but were also severely traumatised by the death of their baby. After stabilising the patients they were transported by ambulance to the GJ Crooks hospital in Scottburgh for further treatment .
