Two firemen are in a critical condition after there fire engine rolled several times on the N3 North near Merivale in the Natal Midlands at around 06h00 this morning .
Paramedics from Netcare 911 fortunately arrived on scene within minutes of the accident. When they arrived they were prepared for the worst as the fire engine was totally destroyed. The two firemen sustained critical injuries and with the extreme weather paramedics had their hands full to stabilise the injured and get them out of the cold and wet surroundings. Both patients were then transported to a hospital in Pietermaritzburg for further treatment.
It is unclear as to the cause of the accident however the SAPS collision unit is on scene and will do an investigation.
