70 year old male rescued in Drakensberg

A 70 year old JHB man today had to be rescued from the Ntunjelaan Pass in the Drakensberg. The Male and a companion was hiking for two days when he started feeling ill and they presumed that he might be having a heart attack .

SAPS search and rescue called for the assistance of the Netcare 911 paramedics. They were airlifted with the help of the SAPS air wing to the position where the patient was. Paramedics quickly assessed the patient and then found that he was suffering from altitude sickness. They then airlifted him to the Cathedral Peak area. The symptoms disappeared and he was then left with his family.
