One man was killed and his girlfriend seriously injured when the car they were travelling in rolled repeatedly and left the N2 South bound carriageway near the M7 (Edwin Swales Drive) turnoff at 19h00 on Saturday night. Another vehicle slammed into the car as it rolled.
Netcare 911 Paramedics who attended the scene found that the driver of a VW Citi golf lost control of his vehicle and veered violently across the road before rolling several times and coming to rest on a grassed area at the roadside. The driver was thrown from the spinning car and his body was found nearby. He was declared dead by paramedics at the scene. His seriously injured girlfriend was found seated in the vehicle and was treated by paramedics before she was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver and passenger of a VW Polo which collided with the golf were uninjured.
