Netcare 911 paramedics from Richards Bay and Ballito rushed to the scene of an accident on the N2 near the Mtunzini Toll Plaza just after 09h00 this morning. Paramedics arrived to find total devastation.
A taxi lost control after allegedly losing one of the rear wheels and then slammed into the side of a truck killing 5 people, critically injuring another 5 and leaving 5 more with serious injuries. Two of the critically injured were airlifted with the Red Cross helicopters, but sadly one of them died soon after they arrived at hospita.
All the other patients were treated on scene and then transported by ambulance to various hospital for further treatment.
