One man was seriously injured when his car smashed into a retaining fence that separates Umgeni Road and the North Coast Road fly-over of Connaught Bridge, Durban in the early hours of Sunday morning. Netcare 911 Paramedics responded to the scene and found that the driver of a VW Polo Classic mounted the concrete median separating the two roadways and felled a 70m section of fencing used to separate the two.
The man sustained serious injuries and was treated by advanced life support paramedics at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital for further medical care. The road was closed while emergency service personnel cleared the scene.
