Taxi accident claims one life 50 kilometres outside Grahamstown

One passenger died and 13 others were injured when the taxi they travelled in lost control and overturned at around 10h00 today. The accident happened on the N2 between Grahams town and PE .

Paramedics from Netcare 911 were called to the scene and when they arrived they were faced with absolute carnage, as the taxi overturned, passengers were thrown out of the vehicle, and laid over several meters as the vehicle came to rest some 20 meters off the road in a nature reserve . Sadly one of the passengers died on scene due to the severity of her injuries. Paramedics had there hands full to stabilise the remaining 13 passengers that had all sustained serious injuries .

All the patients were transported to hospitals in Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth for further treatment.
