Two people died and two are in a critical condition after their vehicle left the road and collided with the bridge on the N3 North in the Pietermaritzburg area at 06h00 this morning.
Details are still unclear but the Land Rover left the roadway went up an embankment and overturned. The vehicle slid on its side smashing the roof into the concrete pillar of the Woodhouse Bridge.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 arrived on scene and found that the four occupants of the vehicle all in there 20’s were still trapped in the mangled wreckage . Fireman used the Jaws of Life to free the patients from the wreck, while paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the critically injured.
Sadly the back passengers a male and a female died on scene due to the severe injuries that they sustained. The driver a male and his front passenger a female both sustain critical injuries. Both patients were transported to the Edendale hospital for further treatment.
