2 People critically injured in snarl up

Two people are in a critical condition while another has sustained serious injuries in an accident on the R102 ( old Warm Baths road ) at around 11h50 this morning.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they found that two trucks and a bakkie collided with each other on the R102 near the Mill. One of the vehicles – a tip truck landed on top of the other heavy good vehicle, and the bakkie appeared like a crumpled pile of metal between the two heavy goods vehicles .

Fireman and paramedics worked for over an hour using the jaws of life to free the injured from the mangled wreckages. The driver of the tip truck and the driver from the bakkie both sustained critical injuries while the driver of the other heavy goods vehicle sustained serious injuries .

Advanced life support paramedics from Netcare 911 worked fervently to stabilise the injured before transporting them to the Montana hospital in Pretoria for further treatment.

Details of the accident are sketchy but members of the SAPS are conducting an investigation.
