A 5 year old girl sustained 55 % burns after allegedly playing with matches at her Newcastle home this morning at around 10h45. It appears that she set her clothes on fire and family members had to rush to her rescue. A neighbour then rushed the child to a local private hospital for treatment
The Netcare 1 helicopter from Guateng with a specialised trauma team on board was called at 13h10 this afternoon, to airlift the critically injured patient to a burns unit in Sandton for specialised care .
