A man in his 60’s is fighting for his life after his vehicle collided head on with a harvester on the Hartebeespoort dam road near Pretoria this morning. Exact details of the accident is still for SAPS investigation .
Paramedics from Hartebeespoort arrived on scene to find the driver of the bakkie still trapped in the mangled wreckage and in a critical condition. Realizing that the patient needs to get to a level one trauma facility in a hurry, they called for the Netcare one medical helicopter with a specialized trauma team on board to airlift the patient to hospital.
While they were waiting for the helicopter paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the critically injured man. He was removed from the wreckage stabilized and packaged on a trauma board; he was then placed on board the Netcare 1 helicopter where a trauma doctor treated him during the flight to the Netcare Milpark hospital for further treatment.
