A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by an out of control vehicle in the intersection of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and the M41, Umhlanga, this afternoon.
Two cars collided in the intersection, the smash sending one of the cars spinning out of control and striking a man walking at the roadside. The man sustained head and spinal injuries as well as multiple fractures. He was stabilised by Netcare 911 Paramedics at the scene before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
All occupants of the motor vehicles were uninjured in the snarl up. Traffic on the busy roadway was badly obstructed while emergency service personnel cleared the scene.
