One man was critically injured when the taxi he was driving collided head-on with a truck in Khan Road, Northdale, Pietermaritzburg today.
The driver of the taxi was trapped in the mangled wreckage of his vehicle, with the truck wedged against it in the middle of the roadway. Four passengers of the taxi were seriously injured, having sustained possible head and spinal injuries.
All the wounded were treated and stabilised at the scene by Netcare 911 Paramedics before they were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for further medical care.
Other emergency services were present on the scene.
