Man dies in road accident at intersection

Two serious motor vehicle accidents within the eThekwini Metro yesterday have left one dead and ten others injured.

Netcare 911 Paramedics rushed to the intersection Newlands West Drive and Inanda shortly before midnight where two minibus taxi’s had collided. Circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear but it is thought that one of the vehicles struck the curb on Inanda Road and began to roll, striking the other car.

One person was seriously injured, having sustained head and spinal injuries. All the wounded were treated and stabilised by Netcare 911 Paramedics at the scene before they were transported to area hospitals by ambulance.

In another incident one man was killed and another seriously injured when a car and a truck collided on the R102 between Duff’s Road and White House, Newlands, Durban shortly after 1am.

The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions and the truck barrelled into the side of the car. The driver of the car was declared dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the heavy goods vehicle was treated at the scene by Netcare 911 Paramedics before he was transported to hospital by ambulance for further medical care.
