Thirteen people injured in taxi accident on M4

Thirteen people were injured, one man critically so, when a taxi and a car collided on the M4 Durban bound carriageway near Dalbridge, Durban this afternoon.

The driver of the car was critically injured and Netcare 911 paramedics found him wedged between the roadside barrier and a concrete retaining wall that separates the railway line, which runs adjacent to the road, from the freeway.

Advanced Life support paramedics stabilised the injured man and managed to free him from the confined space. Twelve passengers of the taxi sustained minor abrasions and contusions. All the wounded were transported to Durban Hospitals by Netcare 911 ambulance.

Traffic on the roadway was obstructed and two of the three lanes were closed while emergency service personnel cleared the scene.
