Two people injured in meter taxi accident

Two people were injured when the meter taxi they were travelling in left the road and smashed into a lamp post in the intersection of Aliwal and Ordnance Streets, Durban, on Friday night.

Netcare 911 Paramedics were called to the scene and on arrival they found the crumpled remains of the taxi wedged against a roadside lamp post. It is thought that the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle in wet weather.

One woman was seriously injured, sustaining possible spinal injuries and soft tissue injuries to her lower limbs. Her cohort sustained facial lacerations and possible spinal injuries. The two had been assisted from the car prior to the arrival of paramedics. Both wounded were transported to area hospitals by Netcare 911 ambulance for further medical care.
