A lady was critically injured when her vehicle collided with another bakkie on the R550 in the Palm Ridge area this morning . The two Bakkies collided at the intersection of the R 550 and the Zonkizizwe off ramp. The vehicle that the lady was driving spun off the roadway overturned and came to rest in an adjacent veldt .
Provincial paramedics arrived on scene and found the female driver still trapped in the badly crumpled vehicle and in a critical condition. Realising the condition of the patient necessitated that she had to get to a hospital without delay. They called for the Netcare 1 medical helicopter to airlift her to the Union hospital. The patient was extricated from the vehicle, stabilised and immobilised by the provincial paramedics. When the Helicopter landed she was airlifted to hospital under constant observation from a specialised trauma team .
