2 Pedestrians are in a critical condition after a vehicle that lost control smashed into them while they were standing on the sidewalk at the intersection of Modderfontein and Bontebok roads this morning at around 07h30.
Exact details of the accident is still for police investigation, however it IS alledged that the driver of a VW golf came through the intersection collided with another vehicle, lost control and veered off the roadway. He then collided with the two pedestrians on the sidewalk and came to rest against a traffic light.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 arrived on scene to find the driver slumped over the steering wheel and the two pedestrians laying several meters off the roadway in a grassy area.
Both patients sustained multiple fractures and were in a critical condition paramedics worked fervently to stabilize them before they were transported to the Tembisa hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and after paramedics immobilized him he was treated and then transported him to a nearby hospital for further treatment
