3 year old critically injured in accident

A 3 year old boy is in a critical condition and his seven year old sister sustained serious injuries after a truck slammed into the side of a Landrover.  Details of the accident is still for SAPS investigation, however it is believed that the truck came through the intersection, slammed into the side of the Landrover Discovery and pushed it several meters through a balustrade fence. The crumpled remains of the Landrover and the truck came to rest in yards of a local business.

Paramedics from Netcare 911 arrived on scene and found a 3 year old boy that was in a critical condition; advanced life support paramedic Geoffrey Boulton worked fervently to stabilize the critically injured boy.

Realizing that the child had to get to a trauma facility urgently he called for the Netcare 1 medical helicopter with a specialized trauma team on board, to assist with the stabilization of the patient and to airlift him to a hospital. After the patient was placed on a manual ventilator and totally immobilized, he was loaded into the helicopter and airlifted to the Garden city hospital for further treatment.

The seriously injured 7 year old girl was stabilized on scene and then transported by ambulance to the Garden city hospital while the truck driver was transported to the Edenvale hospital in a stable condition .
