A 31 year old man lost his life in an accident on the N12 North near the Eland interchange in Alberton at around midday. What caused his car to leave the road is still a subject for police investigation, however his vehicle left the highway and was airborne for about 50 meters before his car smashed into the ground some 30 meters below the road level.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 witnessed the car going over the edge of the road. They stopped and made their way down the steep embankment to assist the injured. They found the man some 10 meters away from the mangled remains of his car and in a critical condition.
Although paramedics tried for nearly an hour to resuscitate the critically injured man he sadly died on scene due to the extent of his injuries.
