The Netcare 911 aero medical service proved to be valuable in the emergency treatment required to save the life of an elderly lady in the Kempton park area this morning.

Paramedics received a call for a lady that had collapsed with a possible cardiac condition at her Kempton park home at around 09h00 this morning. When the advanced life support paramedic and his crew arrived they found that the lady was in a critical condition and needed to establish intravenous therapy urgently, the patient’s condition had deteriorated so far that they needed a doctor on scene to establish a large central line and to administer specialised medication to stabilize the patient.

The Netcare 1 helicopter was called with a specialized trauma doctor on board and within minutes they landed at a nearby school and the patient was swiftly transported to the school field by ambulance. Immediately the medical team went into action and after a few minutes they managed to stabilize her. After loading the elderly lady into the helicopter they airlifted her to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further treatment

This ordeal proved very exiting for the school children who had gathered around to witness the drama playing out on there school field.
