A 8 year old boy is fighting for his life and another person sustained serious injuries after a two car smash at the intersection of the R511 and the R562 in Diepsloot at around midday. Details of the accident is still unclear however the a sedan was hit in the side by a bakkie that was towing a trailer.
Paramedics arrived on scene and found an 8 year old boy in a critical condition, the advanced life support paramedic form Netcare 911 worked fervently to stabilize the young boy, and called for the Netcare 1 medical helicopter to airlift the patient to hospital.
The critically wounded boy was immobilized and placed on a ventilator, he was then loaded on the Helicopter and under constant care from the trauma doctor the patient was airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further treatment.
The second patient was treated on scene and then transported to a provincial hospital by the provincial ambulance services.
