Car seats save toddlers in N3 accident

Child car seats prevented the inevitable injury of two toddlers, aged four-months-old and thirteen-months-old, when the vehicle they were travelling in slammed into concrete roadside barriers on the N2 south slipway from the N3 yesterday evening, according to Netcare911.

Their mother and father were seriously injured in the smash.

It is thought that wet weather conditions may have contributed to the man losing control of the car and smashing into the barrier.

He and his wife sustained possible head and spinal trauma and were stabilised at the scene by Netcare911 Paramedics. Their children remained safely strapped in their car seats and emerged completely unscathed.

The couple were transported by ambulance to the Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital for further medical care.
