Female in critical condition after accident on R41

A female in her mid 30’s is in a critical condition after her car slammed into the back of a heavy goods vehicle on the R41 in Roodepoort central this afternoon at around 05h30. Details of why she went into the back of the truck is still a subject for police investigation.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and found the critically injured woman still in the mangled wreck of the vehicle. The patient had sustained severe facial injuries and paramedics had to clamber into the vehicle to stabilize the patient.

The Netcare medical helicopter with a trauma team on board was called to airlift the critically wounded patient. After paramedics immobilized her she was removed from the vehicle and loaded into the helicopter. A trauma doctor monitored the patient during there flight to the Baragwaneth hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
