Fifteen patients were injured in a taxi accident – 2 critically so. It is believed that the taxi was traveling along the N1 North this morning just after 07h00 when disaster struck. Although the exact details of the accident is still speculative and a subject for police investigation, it is believed that one of the wheels burst and the taxi overturned several times.
The occupants of the taxi were ejected onto the roadway as the taxi was tumbling down the highway. When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene they found that 2 of the passengers sustained critical injuries, 4 had serious injuries and a further 9 miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.
Paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the injured and then transported them to the Tembisa hospital for further treatment.
