Head on Collision on R59 leaves two dead

 Two people died in a head on smash at around 14h18 this afternoon on the R59 near Sasolburg. Detail of the accident is still a subject for police investigation, however a Toyota Camry and a Audi collided head on .

On impact the Audi was flung over the barriers and the mangled wreck came to rest in the velt next to the roadway. Sadly two people lost their lives due to the massive injuries they sustained. Emergency services had to use the jaws of life to free there bodies from the crumpled metal.

A female passenger was in a critical condition while two other passengers sustained serious injuries. Paramedics from Netcare 911 worked fervently to stabilize the injured, and the Netcare 1 medical helicopter was called in with a specialized trauma doctor on board to airlift the critically injured to hospital.

The 26 year old critically injured lady was placed on a manual ventilator and then airlifted to the Netcare union hospital while being closely monitored by the trauma doctor. The two seriously injured patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals where they are undergoing further medical care.
